Just got my new toy! A JP Slalom 134. It is specifically to try and go faster than anyone else. I make no apology for this. I mean, a good chippy wouldn't use a blunt chisel?

It cost a few squids.

It took me a while to set the straps and tweak everything around. I haven't sailed anything bigger than 6.5m for 6 months. The sail felt really powerful, and HUGE.

Gybing the board is a bit tricky. It is so light it is scary. Also it is very wide. You have to go for a stroll to get it to carve sharply. But I started to get the knack after a couple of hours. Planing, it is very solid and felt great after some good practice. The straps are right on the OB limit. At first I couldn't get my heels out the water, someone with size 12 plates of meat would need to wear goggles.

It does plane in a knats fart. After some practice that is.

Phil said head read it was not very good upwind. After a while I found the opposite. And off the wind it was great.

There were a few piss takers at Brog. If you buy a new board and don't sail a starboard at Brog you are a defector and bat for the other side - or you are just weird - right. I dont think so.
